Facing The Weather Head On
Happy Sunday Everyone,
Many of you might not know we are located in Sacramento, California. If you have been paying attention to the news, California has been having dramatic changes in weather. We have been having many inches of rain and high wind speeds. Our rivers have been flooding leading to many Californians distressed.
One story made it to the top of the news list, which was the Oroville dam. About 388,000 people evacuated the area last Sunday and Governor Jerry Brown declared it a state of emergency. As the water thundered down the spillway, the roads and land were washed away due to erosion over the years. Many were watching the news waiting for the dam to break, or were praying for those in the area to be safe. Luckily, officials have revoked the evacuation and deemed the area safe to return to. Thankfully, many engineers and construction workers have been working endlessly day and night to fix the dam and spillway to prevent future problems. Also in Napa county, the famed Glory Hole at Lake Berryessa has finally had water spillover. The Glory Hole hasn’t had water go down in 10 years.
Down here in Sacramento we were hit with high winds and heavy rain. Many sectors in the county and city lost power due to the weather conditions. On Friday our school also lost power, but only for 5 minutes. With this week being President’s week, many students have the week off. We here at Music Eagles pray that everyone will be safe during this time of stormy weather. Please be safe if you are in the Sacramento area and watch out for the heightened weather conditions. Be sure to check your tires and drive at reasonable speeds to ensure your safety as well as looking both ways before you cross the road.
